Ella Beck
Illustrator
Hello, I am Ella, an illustrator with a strong focus on character illustrations. Welcome!
Children’s Book Illustrations
The following illustrations are drawings for an upcoming children’s book I had the pleasure of working on. I was requested to mainly draw scenery, as opposed to human or animals as the main subject of children’s illustrations.
The Process:
1. Sketching
During the sketching process, I was given the freedom to come up with concepts relating to the script. As you can see, the top two initial sketches were not used during the final drawing of the illustrations. Instead, they were replaced with the flower page and the forest scenery page.
2. Line Art
For this stage, I redrew the sketches with cleaner line work, and added finer details as I went.
3. Color
During the coloring stage, I sometimes create different color schemes for the client to choose from, letting them pick which one better conveys what they envisioned for a particular scene. For the following example, I included, from left to right, a purple toned piece, a more sunny coloring, and a more green hued piece.
About
I'm Ella, an artist with a love for drawing characters and telling stories through my illustrations. I've been drawing for just about my whole life, give or take a few years. But I'd say my passion for art really started when I was around 3 years old, back when I would sit and watch my dad draw super hero characters on these big pieces of paper. He would use these special ink pens when he drew that I thought were so cool! So, of course, I got my hands on them too (and probably ruined a good too many of them in the process). Ever since then, I'd say my interest in art has just grown more and more! I love creating art, both for myself and others. Hopefully you'll enjoy it, too! Thank you for checking out my page!

Commission Information
Here are the price sheets for both of my styles: Cartoon and Digital Painting (Semi Realism)Commission Request Form is linked below.
After discussing the commission and receiving the first 50% of the agreed price, I will start sketching. Below are the process shots for a previous commission that I worked on, and as you scroll I will walk you through the process of how I work.
1.
The client looks over the sketch and tells me what they like, what they do not like, what they would like added, etc. In this case, the client chose the pose furthest to the right, while keeping the hairstyle of the figure furthest to the left.
2.
I then begin coloring. The client shared references for the outfits and told me what colors they wanted, so I wasn’t working with nothing to go off of. But before I fully rendered the piece I made sure to check in with the client to ask them which example they preferred. They decided to go with the middle one.
3.
Finally, after some more back and forth conversation, I finished up the rendering! I added a purple shadow over her and an orange glow to finish the piece. I loved working on this project and had so much fun drawing someone else’s character!
